Well, with a title like NUDE IN DRACULA’S CASTLE, you’d expect a mini exploitation masterpiece at the least. This collection of black and white 8mm loops from yesteryear begins with a fun-but-minor excursion into the nudie stag films of the ‘50s and ‘60s featuring British pin-up June Palmer. It’s only about seven minutes long, but it’s a pretty amusing romp nonetheless. It’s also the only portion of this entire 2-DVD/300+ minute set to include a “plot” -- and, following the titular short in question, this collection starts to become annoyingly repetitive.

The rest of the vintage loops contained on NUDE IN DRACULA’S CASTLE are of your average Girl-Strips-Down-On-Bed-And-Gyrates variety. Dozens upon dozens of them. A few of them branch out from the standard “non-pubic” genre and into the “spread-eagle” field of erotica. A few others actually ditch the bedroom and opt for the occasional change of pace -- but not many.

The folks at Secret Key Motion Pictures must have really worn themselves out watching all of these nudie loops. The collection, all taken from 8mm sources, are presented in their original 1.33:1 ratios. Given the age, wear, and lack of any serious professionalism that went into the making of these gems, you can’t expect much -- and there’s a lot of wear and grain visible throughout it all. These shorts were mostly distributed without soundtracks, so Secret Key Motion Pictures have added some (rather humorous) background music in order to break up the monotony.

There really isn’t much else I can say about NUDE IN DRACULA’S CASTLE. Those of you hoping for a feature length nudie romp à la an A.C. Stevens/Ed Wood collaboration will probably be disappointed. But those of you with a passion for archival rarities from America’s naughty past will probably be thrilled to no end.
