Short Version: Misty Mundae in a double dose of fetish fun

CANNIBAL DOCTOR and DINNER FOR TWO are pretty much the same film. CANNIBAL DOCTOR concerns the nebbish Dr. Orange and his domineering wife Margaret’s gambit for eternal youth. Innocent young Michelle (Mundae) arrives at their office to inquire about their ad for a secretary. Orange likes her qualifications, but informs Michelle that a full body examination must take place before she can be hired. After a thorough regimen of prodding and poking, Orange drugs her, ties her to a table, and then roasts her alive after Margaret oils and seasons her. Orange gets another idea after their ceremonial meal is finished and puts the brain of the sweet, loving Michelle into his mean wife, turning her into a docile partner. DINNER FOR TWO imagines that the latter half of CANNIBAL DOCTOR didn’t take place. Orange and Margaret force Michelle to call her twin sister to the office, who also ends up getting examined, tickled, and eaten as you might have expected.

Those of you familiar with Factory 2000’s history will know that both films were commissioned fetish videos rather than artistic endeavors by director Hellfire. Watching these films is always an interesting experience; if you don’t share the particular fetish the film caters to, you can watch them as regular films. Cannibalism and medical examinations, the two fetishes in question here, are a bit on the extreme side so the KINKY CANNIBAL films aren’t as light-hearted as some of Hellfire’s other sexploitation films. Tina Krause’s over-the-top portrayal of Margaret will garner a few laughs but each film is downbeat for the most part.

Long passages – thirty plus minutes in each film – are dedicated to medical examinations of young Ms Mundae. She’s as easy on the eyes as usual, but the clumsy grabbing and squeezing by Orange (Hellfire) makes them anything but arousing. In fact these scenes are likely to make most viewers uncomfortable and I’ll admit that I’m in that group. Hellfire’s disinterested examination is full of detachment to such a degree as to make it more objectifying to Mundae than if it were done in a “sexy” manner. She is, for all intents and purposes, a piece of meat; literal meat, rather than the typical sexual usage of the term. While such a treatment is nothing new for horror cinema, KINKY CANNIBAL’s position as fetish objects makes this aspect more unsettling. It is a strange facet of cinema that something becomes more objectionable when we realize that some viewers are having a different reaction to it than ourselves. Watching this pair as films rather than fetish pornography brings this to the forefront of your mind and makes it a far more interesting experience; one I’d readily recommend to adventurous cinephiles.

Factory 2000’s double disc set of KINKY CANNIBAL contains several dozen trailers but little else in the way of bonus features. There is an excellent booklet included inside the package, however. The booklet goes much more in depth into the history of Factory 2000 and these two films that we have room for here. CANNIBAL DOCTOR and DINNER FOR TWO have a heavier fetish bent than some of the other Factory 2000 releases that have made it to DVD but I think it is for that very reason that this set is worth picking up. KINKY CANNIBAL is an interesting look into a world that many seldom see and, if nothing else, will broaden your cinematic horizons.
