Witness The Birth March 20, 2007 on DVD

| Film Fanaddict News : Greece’s ONAR FILMS to release Turkish Horror Double Feature this month! |
| Posted by Film Fanaddict on 2007/2/4 18:10:00 (1603 reads) |
THE DEAD DON’T TALK / THIRSTY FOR LOVE, SEX AND MURDER SEE OUR REVIEW!
OLULER KONUSMAZ KI (THE DEAD DON’T TALK): Sometimes the dead DO talk if ONAR gives them a chance, like this God-forgotten 1970 Turkish Gothic Horror gem. A haunted house in the forest, a ghostly zombie-like bogeyman, a curse, pretty ladies meeting horrible deaths, endless macabre boo-ha-ha's, gloomy suffocating atmosphere, Aytekin Akkaya(3 DEV ADAM'S Captain America), pretty ladies, stolen music from Space Odyssey (well, Richard Strauss, that is) and giallos, exorcisms and other goodies guarantee a hair-raising experience.
This is another worldwide premiere, never seen before on any kind of media. Luckily, the master was found in satisfactory condition so the picture is close to great.
ASKA SUSAYANLAR SEKS VE CINAYET (THIRSTY FOR LOVE SEX AND MURDER): If you are thirsty for a genuine giallo with lots of blood, sleaze, mystery and twists, this one is for you. It could be a Sergio Martino film, like STRANGE VICE OF MISS WARDH, but it comes straight from Turkey! Here, a maniac (or two?) with a sharp huge razor is after pretty girls. A woman is suffering a youth trauma and is haunted by the nightmare of her past.

| Posted by Film Fanaddict on 2007/1/24 19:00:00 (1502 reads) |
Handsome young Philippe (Benoît Magimel) is still living at home caring for his mother and sisters. When his mother decides to offer a statue in their garden - a gift from Philippe’s late father - as a housewarming gift to her new beau, Philippe is unsettled by the gesture. His misgivings stem less from the thought of another man taking his father’s place, however, than from a unusual attachment to the statue itself: an idealized image of classical beauty, soon embodied in Senta (Laura Smet), a stunning, strangely aloof bridesmaid he meets at his sister’s wedding.

"I CANNOT RECOMMEND THIS ENOUGH!" - -- Ain't It Cool News
ANCHOR BAY ENTERTAINMENT BRINGS GERMAN ZOMBIE COMEDY "NIGHT OF THE LIVING DORKS" TO NORTH AMERICA (Watch for a review here soon)
Premiering on DVD February 20th
Anchor Bay Entertainment's commitment to finding the best horror films knows no geographic boundaries. On February 20th, Anchor Bay Entertainment brings the international zombie comedy hit Night Of The Living Dorks (Die Nacht der Lebenden Loser) to DVD for the first time in North America. Providing both stomach-churning horror and drop-dead hilarity, it's easy to see why Fantasticfest.com dubbed the German film "An audience favorite wherever it's been shown." With many critics calling it "Shaun of the Dead meets American Pie," Night Of The Living Dorks speaks the global language of gore and guffaws! In fact, it's so funny you'll laugh your schnitzel off! SRP for this outrageously funny horror masterpiece is $19.98.

By Elijah Drenner for Film Fanaddict.
One thing I love about movies is discovering things I’ve never even heard about before; or finding things I’ve known about, but never thought I’d see on DVD. A good number of movies came out of nowhere in 2006, with little fanfare before or after their releases. Here are the ten best surprises worth mentioning. |

| Film Fanaddict News : Films of Kenneth Anger Vol. 1 comes to DVD. |
| Posted by Film Fanaddict on 2007/1/18 20:30:00 (1583 reads) |
Fantoma Films’ special edition DVD hits stores on January 23, 2007. (Watch for our review coming soon).
“It’s time that Kenneth Anger’s work became more available, because he is, without a doubt, one of our greatest artists.” – Martin Scorsese
Cinematic magician, legendary provocateur, author of the infamous HOLLYWOOD BABYLON books and creator of some of the most striking and beautiful works in the history of film, Kenneth Anger is a singular figure in post-war American culture.
A major influence on everything from the films of Martin Scorsese, Rainer Werner Fassbinder and David Lynch to the pop art of Andy Warhol to MTV, Anger’s work serves as a talisman of universal symbols and personal obsessions, combining myth, artifice and ritual to render cinema with the power of a spell or incantation.

| Film Fanaddict News : Crispin Glover's WHAT IS IT? |
| Posted by Film Fanaddict on 2006/12/21 22:50:00 (2372 reads) |
By Elijah Drenner
In hindsight, there was no indication to me this was going to be a weird night, it just happened that way. A cold sheet of drizzle coated the city streets of Los Angeles. It felt chillier than normal and the excessive amount of people made the evening rush even worse. Looking up, I could see that the Holiday phallus atop the Tower Records Building limping slightly southward and there was mild detectable scent of urine and garbage in the air. There was a man; a shirtless drug addict who was lying in the adjacent crosswalk that only a few seemed to notice and the L. Ron Hubbard Winter Wonderland was in full swing in the neighboring courtyard. There was no mistaking; it was Christmas in Hollywood.

(Photo of Cerina Vincent (Cabin Fever, It's Alive) and Barbara Barbara Nedeljakova (Hostel) by Nathan D. Pazsint)
Midwesterners with a disposition towards the depraved descended upon Youngstown Ohio’s annual Dark Xmas celebration over the weekend, a three day long indulgence of everything south of esoteric, and filled to the brim with limitless enthusiasm for deep red cinema. A smaller gathering at the tail end of a long season of East coast fan forums, Dark Xmas brought together film faces new and old to reflect on their experiences in front and behind the camera, including long standing fan favorites Ken Foree (Dawn of the Dead) and Michael Berryman (Hills Have Eyes, Goonies), as well as embarrassing fan-sweat inspirers Danielle Harris (Halloween 4 &5), Cerina Vincent (Cabin Fever, It’s Alive, Not Another Teen Movie), and Barbara Nedeljakova (Eli Roth’s Hostel). Unlike some of the monolithic veteran affairs, Dark Xmas gave fans a rare chance to spend some extended face to face time with their celebrity guests and all were more than happy to oblige. A weekend of happy faces and flashbulbs, Dark Xmas proves a great opportunity to skip the lines, save the elbow bashing, and spend a weekend letting your fan flag fly. www.darkxmas.net

| Posted by Film Fanaddict on 2006/8/26 23:40:00 (1772 reads) |
I still refuse to connect my TV to anything but a DVD player (call me stubborn if you like) as the majority of material being broadcast just doesn’t hold any interest. Besides, I will never run out of stuff to watch on DVD. Yet there’s been a few worthwhile and interesting TV shows that have come out recently from Fox Home Entertainment. I must say that I do really like to lie down on the couch occasionally, press “play all” and just veg out to something and TV on DVD is perfect for this. Although these may seem outside of the scope of what FILM FANADDICT is all about, this is the type of stuff I like to "escape" the daily routine with. Here’s some of the shows I have recently checked out: |

FILM FANADDICT issue #3 is out now! Please show your support by ordering a copy online or picking up a copy in stores. The initial response has been extremely positive and we hope you will enjoy what our issue has to offer. Work is progressing steadily on issue #4 and further info will be posted shortly.
Issue #2 is completely sold out and there are a few copies of #1 still available. Thanks for your patience while we did some updates and maintenance on the site. It took a bit longer than planned and there were several headaches along the way, but all is up and running now. Our forums were not getting any activity so they have been removed for the time being. Our updated site includes a new "notifications" feature that will send you emails when reviews, news, etc. are posted, all you need to do is register. I would like to thank my good friend, James Rodriguez, for his help and attention during the maintenance period. If you are a fan of quality experimental music, head over to his website, Elsie and Jack, and buy some CDs. Check out the reviews database for a whole bunch of new DVD and CD reviews posted over the last week. As always, new reviews are posted several times a week. Finally, take a look at this article on the magazine! |

Fox has been releasing several of their “classic” releases in numbered deluxe editions. Numbered to help promote collectability, #29 is a double disc set of Richard Donner’s 1976 horror classic, THE OMEN, released just in time to capitalize on the theatrical release of the recent re-make. The presentation of the film is great, including both original mono and an effective surround track. All of the special features from the previous single disc release are included and greatly expanded upon.
