Film Fanaddict News : Anchor Bay Entertainment releases Paul Solet’s GRACE on DVD and Blu-Ray September 15th!
Posted by Miranda on 2009/6/30 13:40:47 (25 reads)

An absolute sensation at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival – where two people fainted during the film’s premiere – and a runaway hit on the international film festival circuit, Paul Solet’s GRACE will bow September 15, 2009 on DVD and Blu-ray™. GRACE is an unforgettable emotional and psychological journey into terror, as a young woman (Jordan Ladd, Cabin Fever, Quentin Tarantino’s Death Proof) is forced to make the ultimate maternal sacrifice when the stillborn child she carried to term returns to life with a horrifying appetite. GRACE is produced by Ingo Volkhammer, Cory Neal, Adam Green and Kevin DeWalt. Neal and Green are the writing/directing/producing team behind the contemporary cult classics Hatchet and Spiral.

After years of trying to conceive, Madeline (Ladd) and Michael Matheson (Stephen Park, Scary Movie 3, The Pink Panther) are finally about to become parents. But with only weeks to go before delivery, an accident leaves both Michael and the unborn child dead. Devastated, Madeline decides to carry the child to term and deliver naturally. What seemed like madness becomes a miracle when, after delivering a dead child, Madeline finds her baby is indeed alive…and hungry. She soon discovers that her baby – now named Grace – thirsts for something more than mother’s milk, and Madeline is determined to feed her child, no matter the consequences. With nowhere to turn, Madeline must make a mother’s ultimate decision: What will she sacrifice to keep her child alive?

Film Fanaddict News : The Most Entertaining Movie I've Seen in a LONG Time!
Posted by Film Fanaddict on 2009/6/24 16:50:00 (90 reads)

Over the last 20+ years I have cultivated a bit of an "elitist" attitude. I hate to admit it, but I think that I've seen, heard, done AND know it all. When it comes to movies there's been virtually nothing of recent memory that has gotten me excited and the few things that did, always left me with disappointment. I had pretty much just given up.

Yet here comes BLACK DEVIL DOLL, produced and written by Shawn Lewis of www.Rottencotton.com and directed by his brother Jonathan. The story is simple; a dumb big breasted white girl accidentally resurrects a recently executed black militant/murderer/rapist in the form of a foul-mouthed puppet. They share great times together, fall in love, experience montage sequences and enjoy all that life has to offer a woman and a puppet. Yet, the doll grows restless and needs more white women to satisfy his devilish and murderous cravings.

BLACK DEVIL DOLL is the most vile and offensive film I have seen in quite some time and also the most entertaining. It virtually boils over with an endless stream of visual and verbal jokes that will surely cross the line with a great deal of viewers. It’s a film that laughingly goes for the throat and just when you think you are safe, it kicks you in the nuts, then twists!

Film Fanaddict News : Restored Horror CLassic NIGHTMARE CASTLE comes to DVD MAY 19TH!
Posted by Miranda on 2009/5/18 23:07:30 (180 reads)

International Horror legend Barbara Steele stars in an unforgettable dual role & first-time DVD interview.

Severin Films announces the first-ever ‘official’ release of NIGHTMARE CASTLE, the gothic horror classic starring Barbara Steele and directed by Italian genre veteran Mario Caiano. This 1965 chiller – also known as THE FACELESS MONSTER and AMANTI D’OLTRETOMBA/LOVERS BEYOND THE TOMB – has long been the victim of inferior prints, bootleg transfers, and censored public-domain DVDs. Following the recent discovery of the original negative in a Rome storage vault, Severin has completely restored the film in HD and filmed all-new interviews with both the 75-year-old Caiano and the press-shy Steele.

At the height of her career as the dark goddess of Italian horror, Steele delivered two of her most memorable performances in this tale of obsession, madness and depravity. The English-born actress stars as a cheating wife who is tortured to death by her sadistic scientist husband, and as her unstable blonde stepsister whose fate may be even more ghastly. Paul Muller (VAMPYROS LESBOS), Helga Liné (HORROR EXPRESS) and Rik Battaglia (SISTER EMANUELLE) co-star in this twisted shocker, featuring stunning black & white cinematography by Enzo Barboni (DJANGO) and the very first horror score by Oscar winner Ennio Morricone. “This is as good – if not better – than any Mario Bava gothic tale,” says genre website Monsters At Play. “NIGHTMARE CASTLE is a near perfect visual ghost story and a true horror fan’s wet dream!”

“This is NIGHTMARE CASTLE as it truly has never been seen before,” says Carl Daft, co-founder and CEO of Severin Films. “Our HD restoration and new Bonus Features have already triggered an international rediscovery of the film. Best of all, this is the very first time Ms. Steele has given an on-camera interview covering her entire career, from her early art student days in London, through her work with Bava, Fellini, Caiano and Cronenberg, to the present day. We’re confident that this will be one of the top horror DVDs of 2009.”

Film Fanaddict News : THE INTERVENTION is coming to Fangoria’s Midnite Madness May 23rd!
Posted by Miranda on 2009/5/18 23:01:23 (208 reads)

Phone: (310) 360-0455

Synopsis:

On September 17th 2002, eight people gathered in an isolated house just North of Los Angeles, to intervene in the destructive path of alcoholic husband, friend, and brother, Matt Garret. The horrific, paranormal events that transpired on that autumn night, could only lead to one implausible conclusion - demonic possession. THE INTERVENTION is a psychological/horror film that will challenge one’s faith in the true powers of good and evil. The mind has many doors and what you see may not be fact.

Additional Information about THE INTERVENTION:

THE INTERVENTION was shot entirely on location in Ojai, California. The house used, was a stone structure, built by the owners, which gave the film an isolated quality it needed to put our characters in jeopardy. Inspired by physiological/horror films such as Rosemary’s Baby, Don’t Look Now, and The Shinning, THE INTERVENTION was shot on 35mm film, and completed principal photography in October of 2006. THE INTERVENTION more than meets the present desires of domestic and international distributors in this loyal fan-based genre. The film is currently in post-production and looking for distribution.

Film Fanaddict News : MY BREAKFAST WITH BLASSIE on DVD June 16th!
Posted by Miranda on 2009/5/13 16:01:45 (209 reads)

Andy Kaufman hops a Hollywood bus and meets professional wrestler "Classy" Freddie Blassie for breakfast

A full twenty five years after his death, Video Service Corp and MVD Visual celebrate Andy Kaufman's unique brand of comedy with the release of "My Breakfast With Blassie" on June 16th. This film offers insight into the state of mind of Kaufman before his fatal cancer diagnosis, which some people to this day think was a hoax. Kaufman was memorably portrayed by Jim Carrey in the Milos Forman biopic "Man On the Moon", which focused on Kaufman's career and life, including his later obsession with professional wrestling.

"My Breakfast With Blassie", filmed in 1983, features Kaufman and wrestling legend Fred Blassie, self-proclaimed King of Men and coiner of the phrase "pencil-necked geek," as they meet for breakfast and discuss wrestling, hygiene, stardom and whether to eat bacon or sausage.

This classic piece of performance art from one of our greatest comedians was deemed, "often crude, but always creative," by TV Guide and also features a heaping plate of bonus features, including lost footage of Kaufman, bonus footage, a making-of feature and more.

"Given our commitment to bringing quality comedy and classic performances to DVD, we're thrilled to release this," stated VSC President Jonathan Gross, "Andy Kaufman made a career creating his own theatre of the absurd that blurred the lines between comedy and public disturbance long before Tom Green, Sascha Baron Cohen and Johnny Knoxville's crew."

“Move over TEXAS CHAIN SAW MASSACRE, there’s a new dog in town.” - EDGE
Hailed As “A Nightmare Captured On Film” By Fangoria,

Film Fanaddict News : The Newport Beach Film Festival 2009 features THE INTERVENTION April 29th!
Posted by Miranda on 2009/4/8 15:22:41 (433 reads)

THE INTERVENTION is the first horror/thriller to be selected for the Newport Beach Film Festival.

SYNOPSIS

On September 17th 2002, eight people gathered in an isolated house just North of Los Angeles, to intervene in the destructive path of alcoholic husband, friend, and brother, Matt Garret. The horrific, paranormal events that transpired on that autumn night, could only lead to one implausible conclusion - demonic possession. THE INTERVENTION is a psychological/horror film that will challenge one’s faith in the true powers of good and evil. The mind has many doors and what you see may not be fact.
