Wes Craven (A Nightmare on Elm Street, Shocker, Scream) gave 70’s filmgoers a whole new definition of disturbing with The Hills Have Eyes, starring Dee Wallace (The Howling, E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial) and John Steadman (Fade to Black, Cheech & Chong’s Next Movie). The Carters are an all-American family on their way to California when their car breaks down far from civilization in the remote southwestern desert. But they are not alone. Watching from the hills is a very different kind of clan, a family of marauding inbred cannibals with an unspeakable taste for human flesh and monstrous brutality. In the nightmare that follows, what depravities must this wholesome family endure to survive? In a primal wasteland ruled by lust and rage, who will become the most shocking savages of all?

Susan Lanier (“Welcome Back Kotter”), James Whitworth (Planet of Dinosaurs, The Hills Have Eyes Part II) and genre favorite Michael Berryman (Weird Science, The Devil’s Rejects) star in the film that spawned one sequel, and as well as the 2006 remake.

Open in new windowForget everything you’ve ever seen in a serial killer movie and get ready for the chiller that stunned festival audiences around the world! Named one of Movieline’s Most Anticipated Films of 2011, Anchor Bay Films releases the atmospheric thriller A Horrible Way to Die September 6th on Blu-ray and DVD. Officially selected by such prestigious film festivals as Sitges, the Toronto International Film Festival and Fantastic Fest.

In the film directed by award-winning director Adam Wingard (Pop Skull), notorious serial killer Garrick Turrell (AJ Bowen, House of the Devil, Hatchet II) has just escaped police custody and resumed his killing spree. His former girlfriend and recovering alcoholic Sarah (Amy Seimetz, Alexander the Last) has recently moved to a small Midwestern town and is trying to put her life back together. She regularly attends Alcoholics Anonymous meetings, where she meets fellow addict Kevin (Joe Swanberg). Kevin is romantically interested in Sarah, but she remains withdrawn: her past continues to haunt her and may soon catch up with her, as Garrick is leaving a trail of bodies in his hunt to find her...

Mark L. Miller from Ain’t It Cool News called A Horrible Way To Die “In close and personal with a serial killer…an intimate look at how one madman can affect the lives of so many,” while Scott Weinberg from FEARnet declared it “a crafty and calmly mysterious little road thriller that earns big points for simplicity, intensity and plain old good acting, and Mike Suave from enthuses ““ well constructed that your jaw actually drops.”

Bonus features on A Horrible Way To Die Blu-ray and DVD include audio commentary by director/editor Wingard and writer/producer Simon Barratt, a behind-the-scenes featurette and the theatrical trailer.

The teen series about students sent to Saturday School to learn a lesson has become one of the most watched series on KoldCast TV ever since the cliff hanger episode aired two months ago. Recently MTV producers fell in love with series and began posting episodes on their Facebook pages. The Stones cast were able to stay in touch with the fans of the show by doing live interactive broadcasts on Mingle Media TV where they answered questions about the series. Whereas the first season was about getting to know the students at Blair High while focusing more on the psychological elements, the second season moves into full Slasher-Mode. After finally coming together to overcome their differences, the students of Blair High are violently separated and forced to follow Mr. Beckett's new set of rules. One by one he challenges each student's will to live as he pushes his Broken Window Theory to the test. Their objective is to survive. The web series is loosely based on a feature length screenplay of the same name by writers Bart D. Van Bemmel and Jason A. Wheeler that Keeyes was attached to before season one began shooting. Stones season two begins filming in July in Dallas, Texas.

Blood Trilogy Blu-ray Special Edition Features Remastered Audio and Video

He’s been hailed as a visionary and as a provocateur. His films have legions of fans, and just as many detractors. In 1963, he introduced stunned audiences to a new kind of cinema with Blood Feast – and in the process single-handedly launched “splatter cinema.” He is writer/director Herschell Gordon Lewis and he is truly the “Godfather of Gore.” On September 27, Image Entertainment and Something Weird pay homage to a true cinematic legend with the DVD release of Herschell Gordon Lewis: The Godfather of Gore, and the high definition premieres of grindhouse classics Blood Feast, Two Thousand Maniacs and Color Me Blood Red with The Blood Trilogy Blu-ray Special Edition!

Fans will have a chance to not only explore the wild world of Lewis and his exploitation films, but they will be able to experience every splat, every slice and every drop of fake blood and guts in full 1080p glory! Featuring interviews with cast, crew and critics such as director John Waters, drive-in movie critic Joe Bob Briggs and Herschell Gordon Lewis himself, The Godfather of Gore traces Lewis’ start in the innocent bare-naked world of “Nudie Cuties” before he shocked the world with Blood Feast, the first-ever gore film! Lewis then continued to assault audiences with such audacious shockers as She-Devils on Wheels, Blast-Off Girls, Just for the Hell of It, Two Thousand Maniacs!, The Gruesome Twosome, The Gore Gore Girls, and the incredible Wizard of Gore! Packed with tons of clips, rare outtakes, and testimony from the people who were there, Herschell Gordon Lewis: The Godfather of Gore will leave you laughing and screaming at some of the most amazing motion picture madness to ever play American movie theaters!

The Blood Trilogy Blu-ray presents three pioneering features from Herschell Gordon Lewis with all-new 1080p high-definition transfers and remastered 5.1 DTS HD audio, along with some bloody-good supplements.

Blood Feast (1963)

Nothing so appalling in the annals of horror has ever been seen before. When Mrs. Fremont hires crackpot Egyptian cultist Fuad Ramses to cater a party for her daughter, Suzette, she commits the culinary catastrophe of the century! Fuad immediately prepares a Blood Feast made from the grisly body parts of nubile young women. The world's first (and most notorious) "gore" film, Blood Feast is both shocking and hilarious. It's also the first of the infamous "blood trilogy" from director Herschell Gordon Lewis and producer Dave Friedman.

Two Thousand Maniacs (1964)

An entire town bathed in pulsing human blood from madmen crazed for carnage! The Two Thousand Maniacs of a small Southern town celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Civil War by forcing a handful of Northerners to serve as "guests" for a variety of blood-crazed fun and games. The festivities include a screaming man placed in a rolling barrel lined with nails, a hit-the-bull's-eye carnival game with a pretty gal and a boulder, and a blonde sexpot whose arm is hacked off and barbecued! But before they can slaughter the only smart Yank (Thomas Wood), he and the lovely Terry Adams (Connie Mason, "Playboy's Favorite Playmate") try to escape.

Color Me Blood Red (1965)

The newest trend in art is type O negative! When his girlfriend, Gigi, cuts her finger on a frame, maniacal artist Adam Sorg (Don Joseph) discovers a new shade of crimson that will make his artwork so special—human blood! Squeezing all he can out of his sliced-up fingers, Adam then stabs Gigi in the head, smears her face on a canvas and—voila!—a macabre masterpiece is created. After his bloody new painting causes a sensation on the local art scene, a crazed Adam continues creating sanguine specialties by extracting art supplies from victims outside his beach house. It all goes bad, however, when he zeros in on April (Candi Conder), whose scarlet pigment he plans to remove with an axe.

Bonus features on The Blood Trilogy Blu-ray:

3 Audio commentaries by Herschell Gordon Lewis and David Friedman
Carving Magic with William Kerwin and Harvey Korman

Film Fanaddict News : WAKE WOOD available NOW on DVD and Blu-ray!
Posted by Miranda on 2011/7/18 12:21:00 (1305 reads)

The Heart-Pounding Supernatural Shocker, a New Film From the Reborn and Revered Hammer Films is now available on DVD and Blu-ray.

WAKE WOOD marks a bold return to the gripping stories and atmospheric visual style that made Hammer productions the gold standard of horror via classics like The Curse of Frankenstein, Horror of Dracula, The Hound of the Baskervilles and The Vampire Lovers.

WAKE WOOD tells the story of Patrick and Louise Daley (Aiden Gillen and Eva Birthistle), whose 9-year-old daughter, Alice (Ella Connolly), is killed in a horrific dog attack. To escape their grief, the devastated young parents move to the remote rural Irish community of Wake Wood (the movie was shot on location in County Donegal, Ireland). Sensing Patrick and Louise’s loss, the strange people of Wake Wood introduce the couple to a bizarre pagan ritual that will bring Alice back from the grave – for three days only. The Daleys find the idea disturbing and exciting in equal measure, but once they agree to terms with Arthur, the village’s mysterious leader, a far bigger question looms: What will they do when it’s time for Alice to leave them forever?

In addition to Gillen (12 Rounds, The Wire) and Birthistle (The Children, Ae Fond Kiss), the WAKE WOOD cast includes National Board of Review winner Timothy Spall (Harry Potter, Nicholas Nickleby) and Amelia Crowley (Ella Enchanted). It was directed by David Keating (Summer Fling).

Critic Philip French of The Guardian (UK) said WAKE WOOD is “both touching and scary.” Sky Movies’ Tim Evans said, “Cinematographer Chris Maris has a keen eye while [screenwriter] Brendan McCarthy’s dark narrative makes this a worthy frontrunner in Hammer’s return to the horror fray.”

David Edwards of the Daily Mirror and Nigel Floyd of Time Out London also noted a connection to the Hammer of yore. Edwards wrote, “Thoroughly unsettling from start to finish, WAKE WOOD will please horror fans with its muted palette, ominously creepy atmosphere and neat nods to the best of ’70s British horror,” while Floyd said, “For all its pre-Christian paganism, demon child imagery, blood and guts, David Keating’s rural horror movie is at heart an involving portrait of a young couple struggling to come to terms with the death of a daughter.”

Open in new windowAPHRODISIAC! THE SEXUAL SECRET OF MARIJUANA, is a tripped-out, sex-filled documentary 'dramatization' about the benefits of using marijuana. Mixed in with the history of harvesting weed, the seedy side of drug trafficking, information on the medical benefits and even a recipe for pot brownies, are titillating sexual scenes sure to make you 'high' with excitement. Shot with tongue planted firmly in cheek (and maybe elsewhere, too), this flick even features an early appearance by adult film actor John Holmes as a businessman who gives his secretary a bit of 'dick-tation' in his wonderfully wood-paneled office. Heck, even midget Billy Curtis (THE WIZARD OF OZ, HIGH PLAINS DRIFTER) shows up to give his thoughts on pot. This film was previously released on home video in a very truncated version with all the 'naughty' bits removed. Impulse Pictures is proud to present APHRODISIAC! THE SEXUAL SECRET OF MARIJUANA in the much longer sexually explicit version. Bonus Features: Full Length 'Adult' Version of the Film, Chapter Selections.

Open in new windowA remote, rural monastery houses the young repressed monks of the Order of Pathicus, and their dark secrets. Tainted by the severe murder of a young acolyte after a rebuked advance, the monks further retreat from a society they crave to join. After a quarter century of silence the houses violent past yearns for awakening. Animals are found eviscerated, odd sounds breathe in the night air, and an evil presence is felt throughout.

When an unconscious young drifter is discovered near the monastery, his sexual presence unsettles the young novices, as well as the resident priests. The mans dark charisma ensnares the attentions of the young novices as they are unraveled by their tense obsessions, except for the monk Rafael, who resists the strangers temptations and seeks escape from the doomed cage of the crumbling monastery.

Director Patrick McGuinn (Sun Kissed) and screenwriter Andr Salas (Latin Boys Go To Hell) create an erotic homage to Dark Shadows, Hammer films, and 1970s Italian tales, percolating with a sexual pulse, a menacing tone, a tinge of sly camp, and supernatural evocations. Eulogy for a Vampire was filmed in an atmospheric 19th-century manse in historic Philmont, New York, owned by Eleanor Ambos, the celebrated New York City antique dealer.

"Operatic B-horror! Scarred flesh, ripped bloodlines, and vampire rituals!" Village Voice

"Provocative and atmospheric. A suitably moody sensation." Chelsea Now

A true gem of “hicksploitation” cinema –horror films exploiting stereotypical depictions of backwood Whites of the rural American south – Poor Pretty Eddie (1975) both relishes and ravishes the genre and is sure to appeal to aficionados of ’70s, grindhouse celluloid.

Liz Wetherly (Emmy and Tony Award-winner Leslie Uggams, ABC’s Roots, CBS’ The Leslie Uggams Show), sets off on the road for a two-week break from performing, seeking rest and relaxation. Unfortunately for her, that road leads to the middle of nowhere … where her car breaks down. Coming across a ramshackle motel and bar, Bertha’s Oasis, Liz has no choice but to rely on creepy mechanic Keno (Ted Cassidy, “Lurch” from ABC’s The Addams Family, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid) to get her back on her way.

At the motel, Liz meets Eddie (Michael Christian, TV’s Peyton Place, Private Obsession), a young Elvis impersonator who is involved with the overweight owner, Bertha (two-time Academy Award-winner Shelley Winters, A Patch of Blue, Alfie, A Place in the Sun), a washed- up singer. Eddie sees Liz as his ticket out of the boonies and into the spotlight, deluding himself that she has fallen for him.

Creepy soon turns to terror as Liz fights to survive amidst a cast of demented characters including a perverted sheriff (Slim Pickens, Dr. Strangelove, The Howling) and a twisted justice of the peace (Dub Taylor, Bonnie and Clyde, Maverick).

Poor Pretty Eddie, restored from the original 35mm film master, is presented in widescreen with an aspect ratio of 16 x 9 and 5.1 surround sound mix. Enclosed is a collectible postcard reproduction of the original movie poster. Special features include commentary with cinematographer David Worth and cult film historian Joe Rubin; Spanish subtitles; before-and-after film restoration demo; and trailer.

Film Fanaddict News : DEMENTIA 13 AVAILABLE on DVD April 26!
Posted by Miranda on 2011/4/6 12:09:30 (1702 reads)

Open in new windowProduced by celebrated B movie icon Roger Corman and directed by the legendary Francis Ford Coppola, 1963’s terror-ific Dementia 13 will be available in a special DVD/Blu-ray combo pack, April 26 from Film Chest on the HD Cinema Classics and CULTRA labels (distributed by Virgil Films & Entertainment).

Considered Coppola’s first mainstream, “legitimate” directorial effort, this gothic psychological thriller – based on a story idea Corman penned in one night – was shot for a budget of $42,000. The majority of the American actors were college pals of Coppola, many of whom paid their own way to Ireland for the opportunity to appear in a film. Although Coppola promised “lots of sex and violence,” Corman later battled with Coppola and hired director Jack Hill to shoot additional scenes of carnage. For years, it was rumored that the film’s print had mysteriously disappeared. Now, Film Chest makes Dementia 13 available to fans, restored and in HD for the first time ever!

After inadvertently causing her husband’s fatal heart attack, Louise, a scheming young woman (Luana Anders, Easy Rider, The Last Detail, TV’s Santa Barbara), attempts to have herself written into her wealthy mother-in-law’s will.

Forging a letter from her deceased spouse to convince his family he’s away on business, Louise – determined to get into their good graces – pays a surprise visit to the ancestral home in Ireland. With other family members gathered at the foreboding castle, she joins in a morbid ritual to honor Kathleen, her sister-in-law who died mysteriously seven years earlier.

When an axe-wielding lunatic begins murderously stalking the gatherers, her plans are permanently interrupted. But which one is the killer? Is Louise – or one of the other peculiar mourners, each with a dark motive – willing to do anything to gain fortune?

Also starring William Campbell (Cannonball, Hush … Hush, Sweet Charlotte), Patrick Magee (A Clockwork Orange, Chariots of Fire), Bart Patton, (THX 1138, TV’s Riverboat) and Ethne Dunne (No Resting Place, The Mutations).

Dementia 13, restored from original 35mm elements, is presented in widescreen with an aspect ratio of 16 x 9 and 5.1 surround sound. Enclosed is a collectible postcard reproduction of the original movie poster. Special features include Spanish subtitles, before-and-after film restoration demo and trailer.

Open in new windowCult Collectibles in association with Grindhouse Releasing is proud to announce the upcoming release of THE BEYOND "Weird Wobbler" bobblehead figure. From the classic 1981 film by legendary Italian director Lucio Fulci comes the world’s first bobblehead figure to include a separate detachable face.

"The films of Lucio Fulci are incredibly important to me, THE BEYOND especially, so I wanted to make absolutely sure that this figure was like nothing ever created before,” says Cult Collectibles owner, Mark Jason Murray. Taking the character of the young girl “Jill”, played by Maria Pia Marsala, and putting it into figure form was no easy task. “I got the idea right away that it would be incredible if the figure could have two faces, one in her ‘possessed’ state and another destroyed by gunshot, to duplicate one of the most shocking moments in the film.”

The creative process of this figure took over 9 months as extreme attention to detail and functionality were needed. “Although it was necessary to evolve from the initial concept due to limitations of the polyresin material these figures are made of, I believe the final version turned out even better than I had originally planned,” states Murray who collaborated closely during each stage of creation with Grindhouse Releasing co-founder, Bob Murawski.

“I had a great time working with Mark on this,” comments Murawski. “He definitely shares the Grindhouse Releasing philosophy of obsessing over every detail and taking as much time as necessary to assure that every one of those details, no matter how tiny, is perfect. Mark worked tirelessly with his international team to create something that has surpassed all expectations on every level. As a rabid Fulci fan myself, I am excited to have a cool new BEYOND item on the market and I'm proud to be associated with the sickest bobblehead ever made!”

Cult Collectibles prides itself in delivering unique and high quality products. “I did some research and couldn’t find anything like this having been done before with a bobblehead. The detachable face rests nicely on the figure’s base by its feet for easy storage and display and is held onto the head by magnets embedded into both the detachable face and solid head. When attached, it fits almost seamlessly. So much so that you may not even realize that it is removable having not known it already,” boasts Murray who incorporated further references to the film by having the figure stand in a “blood flood”.

“I just kept coming up with ideas for this and thought it would be great if the packaging referenced the book of “Eibon” from the film,” comments Murray, “so the front of the box has a flap that looks like the cover of a very old and evil book.” As with previous figures released by Cult Collectibles, noted artist Stephen Romano was hired to provide the elaborate packaging artwork. “Bob got the idea to include the film’s Italian language title on the base, so “L’ALDILA’” was added to the back of the base with “THE BEYOND” on the front. I am incredibly proud of how amazingly awesome this figure is!”

The figure is currently available for pre-order with an expected ship date in early June, 2011.

Lucio Fulci’s THE BEYOND “Weird Wobbler” bobblehead figure details:

-Limited edition of 1,000 individually numbered figures
-7 inches of lightweight polyresin
-Alternate detachable “possessed” face
-Deluxe “Book of Eibon” packaging designed by Stephen Romano
-Exclusive trading card available only during pre-order period from
-Pre-orders available now with figure expected to ship early June, 2011.

(Due to licensing restrictions outside of our control, this figure is only available to purchase in North America. Fans outside of North America, please understand that this is a legal matter which Cult Collectibles must abide by.)

Film Fanaddict News : DEMONS vs. TROLLS at ‘Italian Invasion IV’
Posted by Film Fanaddict on 2011/2/22 22:45:37 (2094 reads)

Open in new windowDirector & Writer of the infamous TROLL 2 appearing at New Jersey’s CHILLER THEATRE Expo this April!

Prepare for DEMONS vs. TROLLS at ‘Italian Invasion IV’

Italian directing and writing duo Claudio Fragasso and Rossella Drudi of the wildly popular cult phenomenon TROLL 2 ( have just been announced to take part at this Spring’s Chiller Theatre Expo ( in Parsippany, New Jersey happening April 29 – May 1, 2011.

Ousting Ed Wood Jr.’s PLAN 9 FROM OUTER SPACE as the “Worst Movie Ever”, 1990’s TROLL 2 has been a monster hit at revival cinemas across the country over the past few years, prompting the film’s stars to capitalize on its success with the popular documentary BEST WORST MOVIE released on DVD last November. “We are very pleased with the success that the film had, even if it is considered ‘ugly’,” admits writer Drudi. “We are also very pleased with the success and popularity the cast had since none of them were real actors,” she continues. “They knew how to make a horror comedy, and not a serious horror film.”

Featured prominently in the documentary, Fragasso and Drudi defend their work to this day. “I think we made a little miracle with so little money and time,” states Drudi. “The film is a demented fairy tale and that is clear from the beginning. It was originally called GOBLIN, that is what is written in the script and the creatures are called Goblins throughout the film. MGM changed the title creating the misunderstanding. I understand the disappointment of fans of the first TROLL, but it’s not my fault…I wrote GOBLIN.”

Very much unlike the doc’s creators, the director and writer are looking forward to meeting their “wonderful and fantastic” fans at the 4th installment of Paura Production’s ( ‘Italian Invasion’ series at Chiller Theatre where they will be eager to discuss their upcoming sequel. “I'm writing TROLL 3D and this time prepare to sprain your jaw with laughter,” Drudi proclaims. “It's been more than twenty years since [TROLL 2], a small film made when we were young and we see it as experience to the serious commitment of the more than thirty films we have done to date. We are the father and the mother of GOBLIN (TROLL 2) and nobody else.”

‘Italian Invasion IV’ will also feature a reunion of talent from Lamberto Bava’s 1985 gore-soaked classic DEMONS (, including a first-ever convention appearance by Bobby Rhodes who plays ‘Tony the Pimp’ in the film and is easily one of the genre’s most requested stars. “Since I began bringing my friends around to different shows back in 2007, I have heard Bobby’s name multiple times at every stop,” says Mike Baronas of Paura Productions. “I am as stoked to meet him in person as the fans have been!”

Rounding out the DEMONS line-up are legendary Italian icons:

• Director Lamberto Bava (Macabre, Devil Fish, A Blade In The Dark) • SPFX Artist Sergio Stivaletti (Giallo, Cemetery Man, The Wax Mask) • Composer Claudio Simonetti (Dawn of the Dead, Suspiria, Mother of Tears) • “Rosemary” Geretta Geretta (Rats, Murderock, Shocking Dark)
